    Argus, 27 July 1852, p 4. Auction notice for a house in Grey St states that it adjoins '..the present residence of H Jennings, Esq, solicitor, on the southern slope of the St Kilda Hill'. TS Note: The house in Grey St qv is also in the ownership of Jennings and may have been his previous residence. Argus, 11 April 1853, p -. Auction notice for sale of Dalgety's paddock states that the land is '..close to the princely mansions of Octavius Browne, Nankevel [sic], Jennings and others'. TS Note: Subdivision plan of 1853 in ML Wattle House file shows land marked Jennings on north side of Grey St nearly opposite Robe St. From an overlay of this plan, the 1854 Black plan and the Kearney plan of 1855, it is clear that this is the house marked 'Cotham Lodge' on the Kearney plan. Age, 13 Dec 1862, p 1. Sale notice. 'Cotham Lodge', St Kilda, on 3 acres, now in the occupation of C L Swanston. Argus, 14 Oct 1876, p 2. Auction notice. Property in the estate of the late J Nimmo,description of the large family res and pleasure grounds 'Cotham Lodge', res of George Fairburn [sic], Barkly St, St K. Two storey brick stuccoed, entrance hall and 3 large reception rooms,etc on ground floor, coachouse, stables etc. Frontage of 364'3" to Barkly St, depth between 470'9" and 222', a great proportion of the land being suitable for building purposes etc. TS Note: S&M 1873, 1875 George Fairbairn in Barkly St (west side bet Gurner St and Grey St) as a large property. 'Cotham Lodge' is named on 1855 Kearney plan in this location, and shown as a substantial house [not named] and garden on the Alexander Black plan of 1854.

S&M 1867 Nimmo, William, Grey St (se cnr Gurner St) TS Note: The 1873 Vardy plan 4 W W lot 30 as annotated by Vardy shows W Nimmo as the owner of this property and the immediately to the south which faces Grey St. S&M 1874 shows William Nimmo in Grey St (north side near east cnr Gurner St) which is the same property. The Kearney plan shows 'Cotham Lodge' with frontages to Grey, Barkly and possibly Gurner Sts. In 1872, Sydney W Smith calls tenders for a house for Nimmo in Grey St qv and this house is shown on the 1873 Vardy plan. As a result of this subdivision, 'Cotham Lodge' acquired a Barkly St address. Cannon, Land Boom & Bust, p 27. Prominent investor T P Fallon owned two large houses in St Kilda,Whinbank qv, and Emelton [sic]. Following losses in the crash, Fallon went to his rooms in 'Salisbury House', Carlton and shot himself.
