  • Owners and occupiers:

1873 Vardy Map lists 'owner or occupier' as W H Cropper

    1891 occupied by Alfred Levi

  • Description:

A typically early Victorian square plan with a verandah on three sides, and a rear wing along Dalgety Street. Porbably single storey.

  • History:

A house was on the site by the time of the Vardy map of 1873. Though it faced Princes Street, the adress was 74 Dalgety Street, by 1891 renumbered to 50 Dalgety Street.

By 1891 it was occuped by Alfred Levi and family and known as 'Tranmere'. Levi died in there in 1911. Later Mrs Levi lived at a house also called Tranmere in Malvern.

In 1914 a 'superior flat' with a separate kitchen was advertised at 50 Dlagety Street, now known as Ravenscraig, and in 1921 a self-contained flat 'modernly furnished' was available for rent.

So probably betwen thos two dates the house was replaced by the present two blocks of flats in very similar style, presumably built together, one facing Dalgety Street numbered 50, the other on the corner, numbered 52.
