The St Kilda Historical Society Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation, established in 1970, to foster interest and research into the history of St Kilda, Elwood and the surrounding areas. We are affiliated with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria and a member of Museums Australia.

THIS SITE IS CURRENTLY BEING RESTRUCTURED AND UPDATED. WE ARE WORKING TO REMOVE RESTRICTED ACCESS SO THAT ALL REGISTERED USERS CAN ACCESS ALL CONTENT AREAS (previously only paid membership holders could access all content).

To use the search function and see all content you need to log in via the Registered Users panel on the right hand side of this page. We are working to enable full access to everyone (members and non-members) but you do need to register and log in to access all information. 

To be registered and login successfully you need to have created an account first (that is be a registered user with a username & password).

Please note, depending on the availability of our volunteers, your registration may take up to 48 hours to be activated.

In conversation with Carmel Shute

Canberra based author David Dufty in conversation with Carmel Shute will explore The Secret Code Breakers of Central Bureau and the origins of World War II intelligence decoding in our local suburbs. Importantly David's book also uncovers the secret and vital role played by women decoders in winning the Pacific War.
