St Kilda Army and Navy Club, St.Kilda
Members attended a presentation by Professor Boris Frankel on the culture and ecology of the St.Kilda foreshore during the 1950s and 1960s.
Drawing on personal memories and stories, and accompanied by photographs from the Society's Julie Millowick Collection, Professor Frankel discussed the foreshore of the period and the wider socio-economic and cultural influences on the character of post-war St.Kilda since the 1950s.
The presentation also examined the impact of governments and developers on St.Kilda and the changes that occurred in the suburb over subsequent decades.

Professor Boris Frankel is a political economist, social theorist and cultural critic, and an Honorary Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne.
He has lived in different parts of St.Kilda since 1950 and has worked at the Palais Theatre, Luna Park, Palais de Danse, Leo's Spaghetti Bar and other St.Kilda landmarks.
